Review: Rookie Idols AlphaBAT Disappoint with Music Video for Debut Song 'AB City'
Underwhelming song meets boring music video - AlphaBAT is not off to a great start
It seems like every few weeks another rookie idol group attempts to break into the K-Pop scene and make it big. The latest group to make the leap is Simtong Entertainment's nine-member hip-hop boy band AlphaBAT.
After releasing their debut single "AB City" on November 11, the group has finally unveiled the song's music video.
As far as K-Pop goes, "AB City" is nothing new, actually it is a
rather underwhelming entrance onto the music scene. Albeit it is not a
bad song, just not a memorable one either.
The music video, which there was a great deal of hype about, was also
disappointing for the most part. A repetition of the same old, same
old - cuts to each member for brief closeups, break away to (*cough*
boring *cough*) choreography, repeat.
The matching outfits, are a little much, as are the cheesy
interjections of English in the song, and the whole "AB City" music
video looks amateur-like and low quality especially when compared to
other videos released in the past couple weeks, months, and years.
While AlphaBAT is sure to gain a pretty solid fanbase (the song,
after all, was not completely terrible), it is going to be difficult for
them to gain widespread popularity unless they seriously amp things up
the next time around.
What do you think of rookie group AlphaBAT and their new music video for "AB City"?
